Austin Holcombe Invades The Dome

Austin Holcombe invaded the Dome at America's Center (St. Louis, Mo.) on Thursday for the opening round of the Castrol Gateway Dirt Nationals presented by O'Reilly Auto Parts.

Thirty Modified racers took part in the opening round of the mega weekend. Struggles in qualifying left Holcombe starting seventh on his heat race grid.

After advancing to a fifth-place finish he found himself one spot short of a transfer spot and was relegated to a B-Main. Starting and finishing third in his B-Main resulted in Austin missing the transfer spot to the feature as his night came to an early end.

Austin hoped for better luck in the final round of the event on Saturday night, but would unfortunately encounter another tough outing. While trying to advance to a transfer spot to the feature via a qualifier he made hard contact with the wall. The ensuing damage brought his 2022 season to a disappointing early end.
