Austin Holcombe tackles Gateway Dirt Nationals at The Dome
Finishing out the 2023 racing season, Austin Holcombe made the haul to the Dome at America's Center (St. Louis, Mo.) for the seventh-annual Gateway Dirt Nationals on Thursday afternoon.
Hitting the track for the first time on Friday, Holcombe missed the setup in qualifying before finishing eighth in his heat race. Needing a Top-2 finish in the B-Main to transfer, Austin recorded an eighth-place outing.
With the main events slated for Saturday, Austin needed a strong run in his qualifier in order to transfer to the $5,000-to-win feature. Rolling off 11th, Holcombe moved through the field, but was unable to transfer with a seventh-place finish.
