Two Top-5 outings with Modified Mafia tour at Dixieland and Halifax County

Continuing his 2023 title hunt, Austin Holcombe followed the Modified Mafia Tour to Dixieland Speedway (Elizabeth City, N.C.) on Friday afternoon for the first night of a doubleheader weekend.

Among 16 entries in qualifying, Austin qualified fourth fastest which put him in the dash where he would finish third. Rolling off third in the first of two $2,000-to-win features over the weekend, Holcombe fell back early but recovered to record a Top-5 finish in fifth.

Traveling to Halifax County Motor Speedway (Littleton, N.C.) overnight, Holcombe would once again start the 30-lap main event from the second row. Battling inside the Top-3, Austin was unable to challenge the leaders and settled for a third-place outing.
